How to keep vegetables fresh for longer
Al Maarij28 Oct 20261 min read
Buying a week of vegetables at once saves time, but only if they stay fresh. Here is how we keep vegetables fresh at Al Maarij — and how you can too.
1. Don't wash before storing
Water speeds up rotting. Wash vegetables just before cooking.
2. Keep leafy greens wrapped
Wrap spinach and lal shak in a dry cotton cloth or paper towel and keep in the fridge.
3. Onions and potatoes apart
Store them in a cool, dark, airy place — but never together. Onions make potatoes sprout faster.
4. Tomatoes outside the fridge
Keep tomatoes at room temperature until they are ripe, then refrigerate for up to two days.
